Covid-19 Policy

A.M. Reid Coronavirus  (COVID- 19) Company policy – Updated/ Reviewed August 2022

This COVID-19 policy will be susceptible to changes with the additional changes that the government or our governing bodies may introduce. We will update you if any significant change is made.  

The World Health Organization (WHO) have COVID- 19 - Coronavirus a pandemic. Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). A novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans.  

Coronaviruses are zoonotic, meaning they are transmitted between animals and people. Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death

This company policy includes the measures we are actively taking to mitigate the spread of Coronavirus. You are strongly advised to follow all these rules diligently, to sustain a healthy and safe workplace in the unique environment. It is important that we all respond responsibly and transparently to these health precautions. We assure you that we will always treat your personal information with high confidentiality and we will provide Personal Protective Equipment so you can carry out the jobs required safely. 

As of May 2022 Scottish government has lifted all restrictions regarding Coronavirus, however staff have still been advised how to be ‘Covid safe’

General hygiene rules

- Wipe down anything that has been touched within any customers house or site on finishing the job. 
- Wash your hands with soap before and after work and frequently throughout the working day. You will all be provided with antibacterial hand sanitiser which you can also use but especially if no washing facilities available this can be used until a sink found.  
- Good respiratory hygiene, coughing or sneezing into your crease in your elbow if no tissue available. Discard your used tissue immediately properly and clean/ sanitise your hands immediately. 
- Avoid touching your face, particularly your eyes, nose, mouth with your hands to limit your risk of infection.

Personal Protection Equipment

- Disposable gloves and masks have been provided for every van. 
- The company will provide antibacterial sanitiser located throughout company premises and issued to each member of staff where you are encouraged and reminded to use these regularly.

Vehicle sharing/ Commuting

- If you are sharing then good ventilation ie keeping the windows open may help. 
- Company vehicles should be cleaned regularly and wiped down every morning/ night. 

Customers/ Visitors      

- Check with customers to confirm if any Coronavirus symptoms prior to entry.
- Customers/ Visitors are asked not to attend the office if they have any symptoms of Coronavirus, if they do, they can be refused entry.
- The company will provide an antibacterial sanitiser within the office.

Post Pandemic Considerations

The possibility of subsequent waves has to be kept in mind and the company will discuss with staff the lessons learnt from the current epidemic/pandemic and continue with the preparations required to cope with subsequent waves.
